The park, together with the surrounding Victorian and Edwardian houses, was laid out by Christ's Hospital of Abingdon from 1860. Christchurch, Magdalen College, St. Edward's, and The Dragon are also within easy reach, with other schools such as St Hugh's and Cokethorpe in the surrounding area. Furthermore, in the state sector, there is St Nicholas CE Primary, along with Larkmead School and John Mason School for secondaries, all of which are well regarded and within walking distance.
