Now that NBA star Russell Westbrook has dribbled into pricey new digs previously owned by Formula One racing heiress Petra Ecclestone — and sitting directly across the street from the main residence of his Lakers teammate LeBron James — the popular point guard has officially offloaded his former residence on L.A.’s Westside.
Records show the buyer is an entity tied to hedge-fund manager Ben Belldegrun — one of four children born to billionaire biotech entrepreneurs Arie and Rebecka Belldegrun — who doled out exactly $25 million for the Brentwood Park mansion. Though that’s around $5 million less than the original asking price, it’s still a big jump over the $19.8 million that the 34-year-old Long Beach native and his wife Nina Earl paid for then-new place back in spring 2018.
Nestled on a walled and gated corner parcel spanning a half-acre, the three-story structure was designed by L.A. architect Ken Ungar, and boasts an all-white stucco exterior accented with brick and wood. Described as “modern traditional” in the listing, the home features six bedrooms and eight baths spread across a little more than 13,400 square feet of living space — all of it enhanced throughout with a mix of hardwood, tile and stone floors, as well as custom moldings and trim, high ceilings and large windows.
A double-height entryway greets, and flows to formal living/dining rooms. From there, additional first-floor highlights include a gourmet kitchen outfitted with marble slab countertops, a central island, high-end stainless appliances and a breakfast nook adjoining a fireside family room with a wet bar and glass doors spilling out to a covered patio warmed by a fireplace.
Upstairs, a posh master retreat rests beneath a vaulted wood-paneled ceiling, and comes complete with a private balcony, dual showroom-style closets, and a couple of marble-clad baths connected by an oversized glass shower; and the amenities continue on the property’s subterranean level, which is equipped with a family room, another wet bar, a temperature-controlled wine room, plush movie theater, gym and staff quarters.
As for the secluded park-like grounds, they host a pool and spa flanked by a sundeck on one side and sprawling grassy lawn on the other, along with a kitchen and barbecue setup ideal for al fresco entertaining. There’s also an attached three-car garage and spacious motorcourt out front.
